  • Tap a lit talkgroup to switch to it directly, if you like.
Version 1.0 6 October 2026
  • HamTalk is on the App Store.

Built for everyday radio.

Along for the ride

In the car, on holiday, out hiking. Wherever there is coverage, you are QRV.

Transmit from the lock screen

Your iPhone stays locked. The current speaker appears in the Dynamic Island, with the PTT button right next to it.

Wakes you when someone calls

When someone talks on your talkgroup, your locked iPhone wakes up.

Who is talking?

Call sign, name, location and flag of the speaker as soon as the transmission starts.

Activity at a glance

Your saved talkgroups light up as soon as someone talks there.

Our own voice codec

Audio is encoded right on the iPhone and goes straight to BrandMeister. No server of ours in between.

What you need.

  1. An amateur radio licencewith your own call sign.
  2. A DMR IDfree at radioid.net.
  3. A BrandMeister accountwith a hotspot password, found under SelfCare and Hotspot Security.

Without a licence you can try HamTalk in demo mode. It plays a sample QSO and transmits nothing.

Availability: HamTalk is currently not available in every country, including the United States. This is for legal reasons beyond our control. We kindly ask all OMs and YLs in countries where the app is not yet available for their understanding.

One app per mode.

Each edition does one thing properly instead of everything halfway. DMR comes first.

From the community for the community.

HamTalk is a pure hobby project by radio amateurs for radio amateurs, with no commercial interest. Free, no ads, no account with us. Wishes and bug reports are welcome, and every message gets an answer.

Developers of other radio apps are warmly welcome here. There has been too little for the Apple world so far, and we want to change that, ideally together. If you would like to work with us, just drop us a line.
